Camille Lopez, of the Historic Strand Theater, recently announced the appointment of Lindsay Wood as the Director of Education in part of their development plans to better serve the needs of the community.
Lindsay will implement year round fine and theatrical arts classes, oversee Summer Youth Workshops, develop and oversee educational programming, and establish the Arts outreach program for the Strand Theater. Camille acknowledged, “We are very happy to have Lindsay join our team. It will be nice to see the positive changes she can make in the near future; as we strive to grow to meet the needs of the public!”
Lindsay Wood grew up in Hamilton, NJ. She completed a degree program from New York University in Music Education. Lindsay gained years of experience as a teacher of elementary and high school level students and has more than ten years of experience in Community Theater both on and off stage. In addition, she currently serves as a music librarian and violist for an area community orchestra. Lindsay stated, “I’m thrilled to join The Strand Theater as the first Director of Education during these exciting times when the Strand is on the move to a brighter future!” In the fall of 2009, The Strand Theater will begin offering classes in dance, drama, fine arts, music and voice. Over the next year, Lindsay expects to serve over 300 youth and adults through the newly minted Strand Program in Arts and Education.
The Strand Theater is a non-profit organization located on the corner of Clifton Avenue and 4th Street in Lakewood, NJ. This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
