Summer Theater Workshop
Where Kids Take the Stage!
The Strand School of the Arts’ Summer Theater Workshop is an exciting musical theater program for students aged 7 to 18. Daily experiences include rehearsals and specialized games and activities that focus on team work, movement, vocal techniques, and acting. Workshops are held in our Ocean County, NJ theater, and students with all levels of experience are encouraged to attend.

Youth Musical Theater Workshop (Morning and Afternoon Sessions available) Grades 1 – 8
Your Choice of Two Sessions:Morning Session: July 12 – August 6th M, T, TH, F 9:30am – 12:30pm
Afternoon Session: July 12 – August 6th M, T, TH, F 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Our half-day workshops are designed for students who want to learn the skills required for success on the stage. The four-week sessions meet four times a week and cover audition techniques, acting, improvisation, vocal technique, creative movement and more. The workshop is appropriate for children with all levels of experience.
The sessions conclude with a performance of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS on our main stage*! All students enrolled will be cast in our summer production of
Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS which will be rehearsed during workshop hours. All participants will be cast in a role with solo speaking or singing lines. Our goal for the Summer Musical Theater Workshop is for students to obtain musical theater training while learning the expectations/process of rehearsing for a show. The “process” – especially teamwork and self-esteem – is as important to us as the “product” – our main stage performance of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS.

Morning Session: Saturday, August 7th @ 12pm
Afternoon Session: Saturday, August 7th @ 4pm
Fee: $495 per student ($445 if registered and paid in full by April 30th)

Teen Musical Theater Workshop (Full Day Session) Grades 9 – 12
Full Day Session: July 14, July 21, July 28, August 4 W 9:30am – 4:30pmOur Teen Musical Theater Workshop meets over 4 consecutive Wednesdays. Our session includes intensive instruction in all 3 “triple threat” disciplines (acting, dancing & singing). Students will work on songs, dances, and scenes both individually and as a group. The workshop will conclude with 2 Showcase performances on our main stage*. Teens will be given an hour lunch break, meals will not be provided.
*Teen Showcase Performance Schedule: Saturday, August 7th @ 12pm and 4pm
Fee: $300 per student ($270 if registered and paid in full by April 30th)
